Many parts of the world, and even at home, lack simple freedoms and the blessings of security, safety, and being with loved ones.

Threats of violence, oppression, extreme poverty, and imminent death force many individuals and families to make the difficult decision to leave their countries of origin to seek refuge in the United States. With its long history of welcoming those in need, New Jersey leads the nation in percentage of people of immigrant heritage. As Unitarian-Universalists, we seek to educate ourselves and others on immigration issues and advocate for legislation that accounts for the dignity of immigrants. We envision immigrant families accessing the help they need without fear and needless family separations. Unitarian-Universalists in New Jersey work through its affiliate, UU FaithAction NJ, to organize support for migrants with coalition partners for the dignity of migrant families in their journey to safety and freedom.
